Manitobans had three days of great fun and excitement at the Selkirk Triple S Fair & Rodeo held at Selkirk Park in Selkirk, Manitoba. The fair lasted from July 16 – July 18 and provided wholesome entertainment for the entire family. It featured a children’s festival, petting zoo, rodeo show, live bands and a midway. It also included chuck wagon and chariot races.

Selkirk Triple S Fair & Rodeo is sponsored by the St. Andrews-St. Clements Agricultural Society, which celebrates its 132 year anniversary. The society reached another milestone in Canada’s agriculture history with the celebrations in 2010.

The festivities began with the opening of the 25th Annual Children’s Festival at 11 am on Friday followed by a series of other interesting events. Some of the attractions included Fubuki Daiko Drummers, Frog’s Hollow Petting Zoo, Aaron Burnett Show, Dogs Gone Wild Show, Ryan Price Magic Show and “POP VEGAS” in the Beer Garden.

History

The St. Andrews-St. Clements Agricultural Society was incorporated in 1878 by farmers to advocate, lobby and promote the interests of the agricultural community in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Today, the society has more than 25 directors looking after its operation. A semi-professional rodeo was added to the yearly exhibition in 1964 and till today provides thrilling entertainment to the crowds.

The nonprofit organization also conducts homemaking and handicrafts exhibition classes for members of the society and honorary awards are provided to junior and adult exhibitors during the Selkirk Triple S Fair & Rodeo. Classes are conducted and exhibitions held in needlecrafts, sewing, knitting, embroidery, home cooking etc.
