It was another chance for solid sports entertainment for Winnipeggers at Lord Stanley’s Cup, which kicked-off on 18 July, Sunday. Blackhawk started the season on a winning note as captain Jonathan Toews was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy after his enthusiastic team got the better of Flyers by 4-3 in the playoff game of the Stanley Cup 2009-2010.

It was a great day for Winnipeggers at City Hall courtyard this Sunday when the city’s hockey fans had many reasons to cheer. The festivities began right at 11 am with Toews being felicitated and honored for his achievements over the last year. Later on the day, a parade marched its way from Ecole Christine Lesperance to the Dakota Community Centre at 1 pm. Hockey fans were very excited as kick off was scheduled at 2 pm.

This is a known fact that Lord Stanley’s Cup is a legendary championship with a long and illustrious history. The cup is awarded to the winning team and it remains in their custody until the next championship. The Stanley Cup 2010-2011 is scheduled to begin from this September and hockey lovers are excited and ready to cheer for their favorite teams this season as well. Booking of tickets have already started for the forthcoming season. You can learn more about Stanley Cup 2010-11 from the official website of NHL.

After this win at playoff finals Towes along with his teammates Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook has become the fourth, fifth and sixth players respectively to have won an Olympic gold and a Stanley Cup in the same year. Hope they will be in winning form this season as well.
